In the upheaval of last spring, a particularly special exhibition had to be put on hold. One year later, we are pleased to announce the opening of They Travel Together, an exhibition of work by Mary Kenny, Andrea Olmstead, and Leslie Schomp. Their drawings and sculptures shorten the imaginary and experiential distance between humans and animals, inviting us to look at animals, and ourselves, differently.
The relationship between humans and animals is fascinating, alternating between fear and love. We depend on animals to help us survive. They are symbolic and spiritual representatives. We treasure our pets, but kill other animals for food, in fear, and for sport. In They Travel Together, Leslie Schomp, Mary Kenny, and Andrea Olmstead address this complex relationship by exploring their identities, dreams, symbols, and memories through various animals, and invite us to look at them, and ourselves, differently.
They Travel Together is on view at ArtsWorcester at the Davis Art Gallery and on our website through June 13, 2021. Gallery hours run Thursdays through Sundays, 12:00 to 5:00 PM.
Visitors must reserve a free appointment in advance on Eventbrite before entering. Gallery capacity will be limited to fifteen visitors at any time, and all visitors are required to wear masks or face coverings.
