Limited unframed prints of Convergent available: $120)
Hickey and Boilard’s collaboration first converged around the idea of the Minotaur and the Labyrinth. The artists worked together on the imagery and symbolism, drawing from mythology. Hickey laid out the design of the labyrinth and the Greek key on the wood block, Boilard sketched in the minotaur. Hickey carved and printed the block in a two color reduction process to create an edition of ten, “Convergent.” Boilard then painted directly onto the plate to create the oil on panel, “Divergent.” Shown together, the two pieces are reflective and complementary though vastly different in process and aesthetic. (Convergent $300, Divergent $600)

linoleum block print
8″ x 10″

$200 (sold)
“The Ring in the Fish” is a motif that appears in folk tales of many cultures and languages, including Greek, Sanskrit, Hebrew, Irish, German, and Dutch. The unlikely appearance of the the ring inside the fish may bring wealth or justice to the hero of the story or punishment to the villain. This image draws most directly from the Dutch tale “The Lady of Stavoren.”

Stand Your Ground
Wood block print
11″ x 14″
2022
The hypocrisy always gets me. The same groups of people who support a law which allows people to murder other people with guns if they *feel* that person *may* be a threat to them (stand your ground) tout a “right to life” when it comes to abortion. For me, childbirth was the closest I have ever been to death. Pregnancy is a credible threat (physical, existential, psychological, financial) to the lives of many people who are now left defenseless. I am heartbroken and furious.
