Fire Nova was inspired by Harvey Sadow’s Fire and Flood/Sacred Sites. The interaction of the layers of glazes caught my interest, with the cracking and blending and unexpectedness of the relationship. In Fire Nova, I explored the layering and movement of paint and ink together and thought these two pieces would exist nicely together.

The “My Bedroom” series is a collection of quirky bedrooms painted on canvas that are vibrant in color and eclectic in vibes. I was inspired by eclectic bedroom designs and the people who curate the patterns, textures and trinkets that all live together in the one space. I am also inspired by Matisse’s early 1900’s interior still lifes era, and the way he paints fabric and wallpaper.

“Party Kids” was born during lockdown era. It, and 19 other pieces made during that time, eventually became the Burst Collection, full of fresh energy and bursts of much-needed color. “Party Kids” is one of the remaining 3 from the Burst Collection, ready for it’s forever home. Stephanie Krist creates wild abstract art from her basement studio with a gorgeous view of the washing machine.
