I am an observational painter, I paint from life. Most often I paint landscapes and could be called a Plein Air painter. I start each painting on location and I try to approach each one with a fresh and open point of view. Most of each painting is finished on the spot, but they are frequently reworked and adjusted in my studio. I try to make my paintings more than just a copy of a place, but a narrative or documentary about a setting; creating a story and a feeling about a place.

I am an observational painter, I enjoy the dynamic interplay of painting from life. Im not interested in a photographic reproduction, but a creative dialogue. Colors can be changes, objects moved, to crieate a more expressive composition. I start each painting on location and I try to approach each one with a fresh and open point of view. Most of each painting is finished on the spot, but they are frequently reworked and adjusted in my studio. I try to make my paintings more than just a copy of a place but a personal and emotional narrative.

The painting was done on four ply wood panells in early September over a course of two weeks. Each panel was painted on location about the same time of day, trying to catch a moment of time and light of a wide sretch of place. I think we humans tend to observe life in a wide visual experience. I try to capture that experience of observing life and place; a feeling of a particular moment.
