Photographing Your Artwork

This four-hour workshop, offered twice this fall, will cover the equipment and techniques needed to produce professional quality digital images of your art work. Lou Swinand, a Worcester-area photographer and Past President of the Seven Hills Camera Club, will discuss and demonstrate the cameras, lighting and other equipment needed. Basic photography and lighting principles as applied to photographing artwork will be covered, as will file types, basic software, and post-processing techniques needed to use and disseminate your images. Lou will demonstrate photography of both two- and three-dimensional artworks, and leave ample time for questions and answers.

This workshop is not hands-on, so there is no need to bring your camera. But do please bring your lunch and any caffeine you may require.

These workshops are free, but limited to the first twenty-five members to register. Please email scarlett@artsworcester.org to register, and specify for which day you wish to register.

ARTSWORCESTER MAIN GALLERIES

Our galleries are a state-of-the-art venue in a historic building, with nearly 2,000 square feet of exhibition space. The galleries offer complete physical accessibility, professional installation, museum-quality lighting and labeling, custom-built moveable walls and pedestals, audio-visual capacity, ceiling anchors, and sound mitigation. Plywood blocking in all walls allows for the installation of heavy works. Large storefront windows bring natural light to both galleries, which are separated by a glass-walled corridor. Motorized, full-length window treatments allow the east gallery to adjust for light-sensitive exhibitions. Exhibitions in this space are celebrated with a public opening reception, and gallery hours are open to the public.

During exhibitions, ArtsWorcester is open Thursdays through Sundays, 12:00-5:00pm. Scheduled visitors will be informed of any changes to their appointments, should that become necessary. We appreciate your understanding, and thank you for your support.

In winter, we close for inclement weather in accordance with the Worcester Public Schools. Exhibits are free and open to the public.
