Kim Cutler: Pieced Together
Lora Brueck & Nancy Engberg: From a Matrix
ArtsWorcester at the Davis
44 Portland Street, Worcester, Third Floor
On view April 8 through May 18, 2019
Opening reception: Thursday, April 11, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
ArtsWorcester presents two concurrent exhibitions on view in the newly renovated Davis Gallery. Pieced Together features ceramic works by Kim Cutler. Cutler decorates hand-built ceramics with embossing, stamping, and slip, and works in a variety of forms. She takes influence from Chinese Bronzes and Asian ceramics, finding simplicity and inner peace in their clean line and design. In From a Matrix, Lora Brueck and Nancy Engberg explore storytelling through collage. Their work consists of individual collaged photographs bordered by unique papers in quilt-like patterns. Brueck and Engberg dynamically explore events by combining multiple images, shapes, and colors. Each grid of photographs and paper is united by a theme, color, or shape to tell a story.
An opening reception to celebrate both exhibitions will take place on Thursday, April 11 from 6:00-8:00 PM. An artist talk will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 1:00 PM. These exhibitions will be on view April 8 through May 18, 2019.
