Buying Art
For many people, ArtsWorcester is the first place they buy art. Buying art is the same as anything else: buy what you like, and what you can afford. There should be no investment strategy regarding art; no one can predict which works by which artists might increase in value over time. Buy art you would like to see every day, and that gives you pleasure. Works of art also make meaningful presents.
ArtsWorcester is a non-profit gallery. Typically, a for-profit art gallery takes a commission of 50% from art sales. Because of our generous donors and foundations, ArtsWorcester is able to take only 40%, and returns 60% to the artist.
We accept cash, major credit cards, and checks (Massachusetts sales tax applies to all purchases). After you purchase a work from an exhibition, we put a small red dot on the label, which tells other viewers that this piece has already been acquired. When the exhibit closes, we’ll call you and let you know your artwork is ready to be taken home.
This fiscal year has set new records for art sales here. All of us at ArtsWorcester–but especially the artists-are grateful for the support we receive through them.
My visits to Arts Worcester have been vibrant, welcoming,
& joyful events—celebrating what is new in expression & beauty for people of all ages who come to enjoy the arts.
