Warm Room is the current series of photographs by Peter Moriarty. This is the Japanese term for green house. The evocative structures that support plant life can also sustain the work of a photographer. Unlike traditional buildings wherein the windows are cut out from the predominant form, conservatories are typically made of iron and glass. For this reason the range and quality of light and shade is intensified within these sites. The project is within both historic and contemporary greenhouses in the US, UK, BE and FR. Also referred to as Liimonaia, Orangeries, les ceres, and arboretum these sites often display specimen from early global explorations. Silver prints from this series are within the permanent collections of the Princeton, Mt. Holyoke, Wesleyan Worcester and Yale art museums. Earlier projects include Cherished Possessions and Photographs of Endurance Athletes. In 2004, he published Lotte Jacobi Photographs with David Godine Publisher Boston.
