Robert Dec received his BFA from UMass Dartmouth in 1975 and MFA from Columbia University school of the arts in 1977. Robert has exhibited in art galleries and museums from New York City to throughout New England since 1975 and his work has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions, winning prizes in several group shows. Robert has also been an accomplished art teacher, being a visiting lecturer at several Massachusetts colleges and art museums and recently retired as Chair of the Visual Arts department at the Bancroft School in Worcester, MA.
Robert has experimented with a variety of styles of painting, with much of the work inspired by nature. Recent explorations, however, are still being influenced by nature and the landscape of the natural world but conveyed in a more expressive and abstract manner. Much of Robert’s latest Acrylic Collage work is a commentary on press headlines, current events, political fire storms, environmental concerns, and influential musicians. Robert’s work has always been about expressing feelings about the natural world, but it is currently evolving more into the relation of himself and of mankind with that world.
